WP2 is the first of two work packages looking at citizens’ own views and activities to improve social services. It studies citizens’ experiences of participation mechanisms within social services.
The range of citizen consultation activities covered will be based partly on WP1 analysis and is likely to include online submission of ideas, regular advisory group meetings, feedback by individual citizens on services received and one-off exercises to establish new strategies and services (e.g. the digital process of making a new child protection strategy for the City of Paris).
It draws on methods from sociology, social work practice and public policy analysis and takes a participatory approach by forming citizen advisory groups to develop the research tools, collect and analyse data. Methods will be selected by the citizen advisory groups and are likely to include engaging, interactive activities like focus groups and workshops based on Forum Theatre along with ethnographic observations of digital and non-digital structures within disability, child protection and youth services.
