On November 5, 2024, the Université Paris Nanterre hosted a thought-provoking conference focused on “Responsiveness” in social work. Entitled  Research Day: Social Work Supporting Democracy – International Perspectives the event explored how social work can play a pivotal role in supporting democratic values through citizen engagement, cultural mobilization, and institutional responsiveness.

The day included diverse panels and workshops, featuring insights from researchers, sociologists, and practitioners. Key sessions focused on:

• Citizen Mobilization – examining how social work can drive civic participation.
• Artistic and Cultural Mobilization – discussing the intersection of arts and social engagement.
• Organizational Responsiveness – exploring ways to enhance responsiveness within institutional frameworks.

Participants engaged in dynamic discussions on global perspectives in social work and democracy.
