Summary:
The “Orphans of Living Parents” is a movement created by a group of parents with the goal to identify cases of abusive removal of children by Portuguese courts. This movement was created following a series of documentaries done by the journalist Alexandra Borges. It is made up of fathers and mothers whose children were taken away and who want to bring to the public’s attention what is happening in the Portuguese legal system.
The initiative started on the social network Whatsapp, with 20 people, who assumed themselves as the organizers. The movement developed its activity on Facebook and organized a protest in August 2022.
Aim:
The “Orphans of Living Parents” movement was created by a group of parents with the purpose to denounce cases of abusive removal of children by Portuguese courts. This movement emerged after the work of a journalist Alexandra Borges and aimed to bring to public attention the flaws in the legal system that result in the separation of children from their biological parents.

Outcome:
The demonstration happened and it had some visibility on tge mass media. However, apart from a facebook account that do not seem updated, the movement does not show the effects of the action.
